Bramham Village Hall has for many years been the
focal point for the activities and
entertainment provided by and enjoyed by the villagers and local populace.
Its central location (adjacent to the Church), in the village, with parking and
easy
access from the surrounding area, give it many advantages for those attending
functions and/or organizing the same. It is available
for hire - long term on a regular basis - or short term for the one-off
special occasion. Hire rates are extremely attractive and help maintain the
fabric
of the village hall.
Many people who live in
Bramham may not be aware of all the activities that take
place in the hall, some of which they might wish to join.

New Year was welcomed in at the Village Hall by over 150 people, and the profits
will go towards the renewed fund raising effort in 2006 to update the toilet and
kitchen facilities.
Users have
commented on how effective the new heating system is, and the Committee hopes
that the new electrics will be completed early in 2006. We hope to see many new

discounts for those who hire for more than 5 hours per week and special rates
for those who run children’s/youth activities for the community.

For a full list
of hire charges see the poster in the village hall window.
Thanks to those
who have completed donation forms for the plaques (see last month’s magazine for
the forms). There is still time to send your form to the committee. This is a
small way of showing your commitment to this valuable village asset.

Bramham Village Hall News
By
the time you read this article the Village Hall committee hopes that it will
have seen the successful first Table Top Sale, which might mark the start of
similar events during the year. Several people have already asked if this
could be a regular event, as it is more “environmentally friendly” than the
traditional car boot sale. But to be a success we need YOUR support,
and that of your friends and neighbours.
Please support the events in the hall – it is a village facility for you
to use.
Children’s parties
are a popular event in the hall, where the children can run off all that
energy without damaging your house or garden. At recent parties some parents
have hired bouncy castles and discos for the hall. For more information
about hiring the hall please contact Kath Hardy on 01937 844928.
A note of thanks
for the donations during the last year, especially to the Allotment Society
for their firework party donation. Thanks to those who supported the New
Years Eve party fund-raiser. Thanks also to the organisers of the Joe D’Urso
event and the Colour of Fire evening – such diverse musical talents, some of
it home-grown as well – all adding to the fund-raising calendar.
The Village Hall
AGM will be held on Tuesday 13 April at 8pm in the hall. If you are a
regular user of the hall or just want more information about the plans for
the upgrade, please come along.
The next village
hall fund raising event will be a disco and karaoke on 15 May 2004 with
licensed bar and refreshments – watch out for details.

Bramham Village Hall News
20/04/2004
Thanks to everyone
for supporting the table top sale. All of those who rented a table covered
the cost of their rental and made money. The Village Hall committee raised
£250 towards the restoration fund from the rentals, the tombola and a books
and bric-a-brac stall. The Committee have decided that this will be repeated
in the autumn, preferably on a day when there is not a conflict with a huge
sports programme on TV.
The Village Hall
Management Committee AGM was held on 13 April 2004. New officers were
elected for the year as follows:
Chairman Stewart
Gibson
Secretary Sue
Craven
Treasurer
Christine Suddaby
The committee would
like to thank Dave Hogg and Roger Freeman who resigned from official roles
but retain their place on the committee.
The committee
decided to commission an architect to produce detailed plans and apply for
planning permission to carry out the necessary alterations to allow for a
disabled toilet, full disabled access to the hall, and additional storage
space. The plans will be on display in the Village Hall as soon as they are
available.
Fund-raising in 2003
raised just over £4000, some of which went on the new chairs for the hall,
the rest going towards the refurbishment programme which will start with
roof repairs to the roof over the kitchen, followed by a programme of
internal work.
The Committee would
like to encourage anyone who has some spare time to come and join the
committee as we plan for the restoration of the hall. Please think about it.
April’s winning
numbers were 58 (£25), 5, 13, 67, 69, 79, 84, 87, 90,154, 163 (all £5).
Finally the
Committee has arranged a fund-raising Disco and Karaoke night on Saturday 15
May from 7.30 to 11.00. Tickets are £2 per child, £3 per adult, £10 per
family and are available from Sue Craven (01937 842991) and Christine
Suddaby (01937 849455). There will be a licensed bar and food available.
Village Hall Draw- Support Your Local
Village Hall... There are several numbers available for the
Village Hall Draw as at 21/04/2005. Prices are £10 for the year (Feb to
Dec inclusive) and 11 numbers are drawn each month 1 @ £25 , 10 @ £5
please contact Tess Ferres (845274) if you would like a number and help
support the village hall. Standing orders are preferable please .. Thanks |
